  • If you ever visit a Podiatrist for a foot injury, they will usually send you to a specialist to have a CAT scan or MRI, or sometimes both. When my Podiatrist, Dr. Conan Parke diagnosed my left foot just last week the standard x-ray showed what looks like a heel joint problem. It was obvious that I would have to go for a CAT scan to help the Doctor decide if I will need surgery or another method to cure my left foot. So, Dr. Conan Parke initiated a visit to Pueblo imaging to have a CAT scan. What is a CAT scan? The CAT scan is a special x-ray procedure that produces these cross-section images of the human body. The CAT scan is the best of modern technology that utilizes both the x-ray and computer. The CAT scan is advantageous for showing organ tear and injury, broken bones. The issue with foot sufferers is that the MRI is the better technology for showing soft tissue and tendon problems. Pueblo Imaging is a reputable diagnostic imaging medical service in the Las Vegas Valley. Their mission statement reads: "To provide quality diagnostic imaging and interventional services to the Las Vegas Valley, seeking to be the provider of choice to our patients and referring physician." Pueblo Imaging currently operates four centers in the Las Vegas Valley. Owing to the fact that Pebble Marketplace is a home away from home, I chose this location for the CAT scan of my left foot. Yesterday's appointment was for 12 pm. When I made the appointment they told me to be there at 11:45 to fill out the paperwork. I arrived beforehand to fill the paperwork. It was after 12 pm that she would call me to fill the paperwork. No sweat! When I visit a doctor, I understand that it is impossible to be precise with the schedule. This is somebody's health and not an In N Out Burger that is slowing the wait time. When I am in a doctor's office I expect an upbeat office. They were friendly here and I just got into the boom I was reading as I delayed time. When you visit Pueblo Imaging they expect most people to have the copay ready. With my insurance, Aetna I will pay what the insurance company doesn't. After a few electric signatures, I waited for the radiologist. Time passes and the radiologist sees me. He asks me why I'm here and how long I had this problem. I thought that my Doctor filled them in on what happened. After giving the radiologist the details he set me up at the CAT scan machine. The CAT scan machine reminds me of something in Tomorrow land. I sat on a comfortable bench that elevated up and into and out of the doughnut x-ray machine that illuminated numbers. Because it was my foot the only thing that left my body was my left sneaker. The procedure seemed to take less than five minutes. The whole time I was alone while the radiologist took the pictures in the other room. I understand that if there had been a problem they would call out instructions on the intercom just like a record producer would do in a recording studio. After the procedure he asked me if I had trauma to my foot. I said not as far as I know of. Then he said something similar to the tune that the CAT scan will help find out what is wrong. They gave me their word that they will send the images to my Doctor and that I could see the images in 72 hours. It looks like these images will tell an interesting story that could play a big part in my life on February 2 when I return to the Podiatrist.
