Seriously does it matter that much where you stay in Vegas? Do you really spend that much time in the room when you are visiting?
All I really look for is a decent rate, a clean room and a bed that isn't stuffed with a dead hooker. Excalibur met those needs. Checking in was quick and easy, although finding my room was odd. My card said room 17 and I walked up and down the hallway looking for it to no avail. I finally asked a housekeeper and she said it was 117. ?!? No big.
I do have a few complaints. 1) The parking lot is a little far from the hotel and there is no connecting bridge or moving walkway that leads to it. 2) I was having problems with the in-room pay per use internet. I called the Tech Guy and as expected, he had a very condescending way of talking. Made me feel stupid. He asked me what my VPN was. I said "What's a VPN?" He said "If you need to ask what it is, there's no need for you to be asking questions about it." F-U PRICK! After a half hour of not getting it to work, I gave up and got a refund. I then used the alternate wireless services. The one I picked by Travelocity worked, but it was a pain trying to connect to it. Tip: The Starbucks in the food court has free wi-fi although they don't advertise it. 3) There is a prevailing stench of cigarette smoke in the hotel towers. I don't know if being from California and not being used to indoor places that allows smoking had anything to do with it, but it did take some getting used to. 4) Being a guy, staying at a hotel who's main attraction was a bunch of male strippers from Down Under was disturbing.
Would I stay at Excalibur again? Maybe, if I was with a bunch of my cheap friends. No, if I was with someone that was special to me. I think for that I would try the Venetian.
