| - What we had: A whole slew of different flavour macarons (can't remember them all), Pur noir cake, and some seasonal autumn cake called Soleil something something... (These were over various visits, we're not that gluttonous.)
Taste: 8/10
Their macarons are very good, Steven's favourite is the salted caramel, Laura likes most of them. They switch up the flavours pretty often and they sometimes have funky themed flavours like coke and popcorn for TIFF, but those are usually a miss. Their cakes on the other hand, are pretty much decorated globs of mousse (nice tasting mousse, but we wouldn't call it "cake"). Out of the ones we've had, there was no actual cake in it. The Soleil one had a tart shell but that's still not cake. We find it a little misleading.
Value: 4/10
This is one of those decadent treat stores so of course their value is poor. Macaron prices are pretty on par with other stores, they're actually cheaper than Ruelo Patisserie. The macaron sizes are really varied though. Some are a lot bigger than the others. However the cakes are more expensive (a small glob of cake for $8, damn son) than Ruelo and the cakes here are a disappointment compared to Ruelo's cakes.
Service/Convenience: 9/10
They're located in an underground mall but they're not hard to find. The staff here are very friendly and knowledgeable about their products. Once they let us try out a macaron (it was falling apart but hey free macaron). They're not overly pushy and they're patient when you take time to make your selection. We haven't had to use their service for pre-ordering or anything like that, so with of our limited experience with their service, we say they're great.
We're taking off 1 point for service because sometimes their macarons are cracked and they still try to put it in our box. Not that we care if we're eating it ourselves, but if it's for a gift then that's a big no-no. Just point out an uncracked one and ask for them to switch it for you and they'd happily do it.
Would go back? Yes, for the macarons.
Would recommend to friend? Yes, the macarons (salted caramel, green tea, pistachio).
Similar places: Ruelo Patisserie (better for cakes, Nadege is better for macarons)
