  • This is one grocery store, nay, grocery warehouse that I'll trek from Mt Washington to shop for my weekly groceries, pantry items, produce, and food staples. Let's walk into the largest and flagship store. Ahh, produce. This area is huge, basically anything you want, including fruits I never knew existed like Buddah's Hands. I can never get out of this section without a bag of Fuji apples, red bananas, plantains, and white peaches. Also, fresh vegetables, root, and leafy greens. I can even pick up a little black truffle for risotto or shaving over savory pancakes with grilled vegetables. Prepared foods are next, salads, pizza, sushi and sashimi, huge sandwiches, ready made dinners, desserts, seafood, salsas, BBQ, potato cakes, basically if it's food, you can get it in this section. The bakery here has to be seen to believe, and only one bakery has better products and that Publix in Florida. Great breads and pastry. Best coconut macaroons I've ever tasted (sorry Jersey boardwalks) and they are even iced with a sweet cherry glaze! Cannoli, torts, pound cake, cookies, pies, doughnuts, bagels and the best olive loaves that make great garlic bread, the olives add a whole new spin to this classic. Try their gobs, to die! Huge meat and seafood section, lamb, rattlesnake, venison, elk, pork, fowl, aged beef, and a whole ocean of seafood. Cheeses from all over the world, if it's moldy, stinky, nutty, creamy, sharp, smoky, orange, white, blue, comes studded with blueberries, apricots, cranberries, truffles, or taste of ammonia, Market District has it! Charcuterie, delicious cured, dried, and smoked meats from all four corners of the land. Olive oil and vinegar bar, taste blended and in unblended olive oils with naturally occurring flavors like banana, lemon, and grassy notes. Delicious! That's only half of the attractions here, shop through their Italian section, German, French, Latino, and many other foods from around the world. Huge health and beauty section, seriously a smaller sized grocery store could be placed inside their health and beauty section. Great vegan section, lots of selections of vegan lunchmeat, tofu, and anything without a face. Market District was recently featured on an MSNBC as one of the leaders of the new 21st century grocery stores. You can take a cooking glass here, or see a top TV chef like Martha Stewart. All you foodies need to see this Market District!
