Super disappointing. I too really wanted to love this place and the concept is pretty unique.
I had a groupon voucher but also booked a massage on top. I'm 7 months pregnant.
The overall feel is not serene or calming. It's rundown and badly planned.
My therapist was nice enough but was wearing a filthy stained top and had coffee breath. I'm really not sure what the facial actually consisted of as I was done after 45 minutes and that included the add-on foot treatment (which consists of feet smothered in cream and then booties that warm up during the facial - NOT worth $25). The room was so small that she had to move the bed with me on it in order to navigate round. To add insult to injury there wasn't anyone on reception so she left me whenever someone came in.
My RMT massage was fine, if not a bit weird. I understood pregnancy massage to be on a bed that had a hole for your tummy. This was a massage on my side (and then flipped over halfway through). It was fine but yeah, a bit odd.
The overall look and feel needs a lot of attention - you are asked to put slippers on when you go in - that's great but mine were all worn and grubby - not particularly hygienic. I also sat in my robe waiting for my next treatment, in a rocking chair in the window - in full public view. There was no comfy seating in reception, just a wooden bench opposite the pedicure stations - which are just chairs with bowls underneath.
Overall I would avoid it here and go for somewhere a bit more professional and relaxing.
Update (Apr 2, 2014): since posting this review, in addition to the owner's comments below, I received the following private message. I thought it important to share just what kind of business this is....
"Hello Lucy
I find it very sad that you instead of calling the spa and speaking to the owner or manger you went to yelp and were very negative about everything. It was your first time here using a group on. WE are a small urban spa that offers childcare that moms love and are able to get a service without feeling stressed yet increasing the relaxing time they are getting. Our lounge area is not one of a hotel it is a waiting area where most people do not sit very long. Our pedicure stations are very comportable and the pedicure bowls are one of the highest sanitization available. Our slippers are changed monthly and are sanitized after each use. Our spa is very clean and not run down at all. The point is you were negative about everything and that was very unfair to do that to a small business. I am not sure what your expecatations were and not every business will appeal to everyone however what you did was really mean."
