I came here because my friends were celebrating Pi day, and I needed to bring some kind of contribution. Originally, i wanted to make my own rendition of a Pablo tart, but because I didn't have enough time I Yelped it and found Cheese Garden. (I know a tart is slightly different from a pie, but please cut me some slack.)
Upon entering the store my eyes immediately honed in on the Tokyo Banana treats. I fell in love with Tokyo Banana during my trip to Japan and am glad i now have a seller to enable my addiction.
They only carry 3 types of desserts (cheese tart, cheesecake, and double fromage cheesecake) at the store and they have samples of the cheesecake and the cheese tart by the counter.
The cashier asked me if i would like to try their tart and cheesecake. I didn't need to be asked twice and gobbled the sample while mumbling "i'll have 2 cheese tarts!"
I was advised to rip the crust and dip it into the cheese like a bread bowl if I heat the tart up and can only cut the tart if it is cooled. When i opened the box, the tarts were cooled but the cheese filling didn't solidify. We still had to eat them like a bread bowl.
The cheese filling tastes sweet with a slight saltiness to it. It is akin to milk foam available at most bubble tea stores. The puff pastry tastes like baked puff pastry glazed with butter. (side note: most bakeries just buy premade puff pastry because it is so labor intensive. I choose not to comment on how wonderful the puff pastry is because it is probably just Tenderflake at work. I learned this in baking class!) The deceivingly light flakiness of the puff pastry pairs well with the heavy cheese filling.
For $8.75, i felt like the price wasn't a bad deal. At love me sweet, 3 mini cheese tarts are $10. I will be back to try the matcha and original double fromage cheesecakes!
