| - After a frustrating and upsetting visit with a foot doctor with questionable practices (insist upon surgery first, ask questions later...!!) we made an appointment with Dr. Kayce on the recommendation of a family member. My teenage daughter had an ingrown toenail (which the previous doctor insisted could only be corrected with surgery). A later toe stubbing incident caused half of the nail to eventually fall off. I suspected this had basically corrected the ingrown toenail and the nail would grow back on its own. But we met with Dr. Kayce to verify this was correct, and in hopes of getting established with a doctor we could TRUST in the future.
All the positive reviews I'd read here regarding Paradise Valley Foot and Ankle were spot on! The office staff was professional and friendly. We were taken into the examination room 5 minutes early and Dr. Kayce came in at exactly our scheduled appointment time!! In my experience, this is COMPLETELY UNHEARD OF!!! The previous doctor (Arizona Foot and Ankle of Goodyear) kept us waiting over an hour for the doctor's 3-seconds of nonsense!
Here are all the things that Dr. Kayce did which so impressed me (in addition to being on time!!):
1. Upon entering the examination room, he enthusiastically greeted my daughter directly with a warm smile and eye contact, even though she was not the adult in the room. After the previous experience, my daughter was very uneasy, but Dr. Kayce was so friendly (professional, yet relaxed), he immediately put her at ease. I love that he respectfully spoke to her directly, while some doctor's will speak mainly to the parent, treating the child as though their input is not valid.
2. Dr. Kayce patiently listened to every detail of what had occurred with my daughter. Never once did I feel rushed.
3. Dr. Kayce gave us a general idea of what had occurred with the nail and what we could expect, all in simple, plain English. Not too much information, not too little. He then explained all of the care options available to us, including his opinion of each, but never pushing one way or the other. Unlike the previous doctor, who immediately pushed surgery, Dr. Kayce didn't feel this was at all necessary and instead included information about all of the less dramatic, non-invasive homeopathic options. Simple!! Perfect!!
We drove 3 1/2 hours round-trip to see Dr. Kayce. I would do it again without the slightest hesitation.
