I'm having a hard time figuring out what to say about this place because I still can't wrap my brain around the fact that it exists. Not only does it combine my two favorite things (indie record stores and indie coffee shops), it combines those things very, very well. The music selection is fantastic! And not just the vinyl reissues, either. The CD selection is equally impressive and full of things I'd never heard of or knew I wanted until stumbling across them.
I've also been impressed as far as the coffee goes, and I say that as a person who drinks a lot of coffee. Any time I'm in a new town or a new neighborhood the first thing I do is scope out the coffee shops. I always get the same thing (4 shots of espresso over ice) as a way of easily comparing, and as far as the local competition is concerned, this place just jumped to the top of the list. It's delicious. I also had a "poppy roll" from the pastry case that was equally tasty.
And don't let the neighborhood or the super cool kids outside scare you off. I'm about as uncool as it gets and I felt just as comfortable being there as Tightpants and Handlebar Mustache did. It was a pretty diverse crowd inside and no one was being a jerk to anyone else. From what I've experienced the staff are equally friendly and helpful to everyone.
Part of me wishes this place was closer to my side of town, but my wallet is very content with the distance. I'll definitely be making this a regular stop!
