So I wasted my time for the second time trying to have my son seen. The first attempt was 1 month ago at the Charleston location. I figured I should just try a different location and that it was probably just the office staff there.
Long story short, we pay an individual premium for my son every month for dental coverage. I was told by our insurance that Absolute Dental is within network and was given a list to call and book my appointment. This is the second location I've booked one and was told over the phone that they accept our insurance and each time it is a 2 week advance appointment.
So I get there and each time I am told that they don't accept our insurance and so I pretty much just wasted time sitting around not knowing that I'd have to look elsewhere for service. To my understanding and knowledge in the medical field whether it be a dental or medical facility, you should always make sure to double triple check to see if the patient's insurance goes through and if not, you should make a courtesy call to let them know what is going on before they drive to your office only to be turned away.
It is supposed to be my son's first dental visit and we have built his excitement up to be seen. We don't want him to be afraid but to know that it is a good place to go to. This type of scenario can be confusing to a child because now he has been told 2 different times that he was going to go somewhere and let down twice! Like, mom doesn't know what she's doing.
I have called my insurance back since and asked for a different dental company. I hope 3rd times a charm! Affordable Dental for Kids here we come!
