This wasn't an "oh my gosh what a terrible experience" but I'd have to say it wasn't worth our $180 tab. In what I consider "normal priced restaurants" I'm not nearly as picky but if I'm paying around $43 just for the steak alone it better be out of this world....it wasn't. My wife and I ordered the New Years Eve special which came with prosciutto wrapped shrimp as a starter. It was delicious but we only got 1 shrimp each. Really? One?? For a $69 per person special? Had we known that we would've ordered something else. My steak was good but it was a bit tough for being cooked medium. Again, it wasn't bad but I've definitely had better.
The service wasn't horrible but not great either. I was the designated driver and it would've been nice if the server had at least asked if I wanted something else other than water. I had to flag him down for a Diet Coke and wait longer than I would've liked in that fancy of a restaurant for a refill. I also had to flag someone down for more bread. For having 3 different people monitoring our table none of these things should have to be asked for. At the end of the meal I wanted to to personally hand the server his cash tip. We waited but it was just taking too long for him to come back to his area. I left the cash on the table which I hate doing.
Our table was visited by I'm guessing the manager but just a suggestion....don't ask "Is everything perfect?" It's rare that anything in life is perfect so you're setting yourself up to answer to negative feedback with listening ears nearby. Our experience was far from perfect but good enough to get a nice response out of us. Other guests may not be as nice. Will we come back? There's a good chance but not before we hit up Ruth's Chris again.
