I'll just come out guns blazing in defence of my rating: this really is "Woohoo! As good as it gets!" when it comes to soft serve in Toronto. I was so excited to learn that there was a soft serve place in the city to rival the spectacle of Bang Bang on Ossington and other recent entrants to the ice cream gluttony arms race that has been gripping TO with a furious saccharine abandon. Since we live nearby, we rolled in late after some post-dinner wanderings so they were nearly closed - so we eluded the long wait times that normally a part of the experience.
The ambiance is what you would expect - loud brassy energetic Hollywood theme. It's fine, but it's also great that you can take your order to go and have all the activity of Queen West as your backdrop. Service is good and seems like they have their processes down. The waits seem long simply because of volume of people as far as I have seen.
Enough of this, get to the ice cream!!!
Okay, so I shared the traditional banana split with the SO and it was everything you want in in a classic - bright flavours (the pineapple was sweet and had a nice fresh and tangy syrup), lots of whipped cream, and of course very deliberately thick and creamy soft serve. It's the kind of banana split you would as a child always see being eaten in commercials and movies but whenever you got one it would seem hopelessly inadequate by comparison. So very good.
Bottom line: get yourself to Hollywood Cone if you want to experience what it feels like to transcend long-repressed childhood memories of disappointment and longing through eating! #asabove #sobelow
