| - So we decided to hit up Vegas for the tenth year of our college fantasy football draft. As Vegas vets, we like to roam around the strip a bit, so the Casino Royale was a great choice. It is right next to Harrah's and directly across the street from the Mirage, with a fairly central location on the strip. So most casinos are just a few steps away.
Also, if you don't feel like walking around or are too hungover to, the tables are pretty cheap as well. It is not a stretch to say that "cheap" is the theme for this hotel and it definitely works. While other casinos have restaurants with fancy names by celebrity chefs, this one has an Outback Steakhouse and a Subway (and a hotdog vendor too). The ATMs only charge a dollar and of course, they have those $1 Michelobs, which we made sure to stock up on before departing to greener pastures each night. The hotel is next door to a Chipotle and Panda Express too. You literally have an abundance of cheap options around you, which come in handy with as much money you spend in this town.
As far as the hotel goes, the amenities weren't bad either. The ceilings are really low, and on a packed night, with the noise and smoke from the casino floor, you might think that you just stepped into some damned circus funhouse. Upstairs, the rooms and hallways seemed to have been redone recently and were pretty nice. Our room had a fridge and a keurig and the beds were comfortable.
So for the price, if you are like us and really just needed a place to sleep (especially if you have friends at other casinos with pool access), Casino Royale is a good stop. Cheap food, cheap beer, and central location make it hard to beat for any Vegas vagabond.
