| - I am going to try and keep this review breif, because, like most Torontonians, I could easily go on a tangent talking about our public transportation.
I am doing my best to base my review on the TTC service, and not on some of the idiots that ride it.
You know, basically my opinion on the TTC is this: it gets me around for just over $100 a month, and I have very, very rarely been stranded. I take the bloor line and the university line every day, and on these lines I do not experience very many delays. When I'm caught in a delay, I am not nearly as irritated with the service as I am with the people that insist on pacing back and forth on the bus/train, cursing and giving me looks as if they're inviting me to join in.
I wish people could lose their right to ride the TTC, really, I do. My main issues on the TTC have involved violence or threats (rare, but it does happen). Because of this, I wish TTC had better security. I can see them taking some steps to achieve this, so at least they are recognizing the problem. I would much rather see money spent on safety and the extension of service lines, rather than fancy new street cars or revamping union station.
Most drivers are very friendly and helpful. Occasionally I will run into a real grouch and I make sure to be extra cheery and thankful when he/she lets me off at my stop. It makes them feel awkward, and I like that.
Bottom line - I am thankful for the TTC, it gets me where I need to go for a lot cheaper and faster than a car. I also feel pretty safe riding it during the day time, and that is especially important to me.
