| - With my family, I went to Paul Martin's during Sunday night eating the Sunday all-day prime rib special for $25. It is not the worst, nor the best either. I have a list of pros and cons to show why I put 4 (and not 5) stars.
Pros:
Overall, the food is pretty good. The prime rib special comes with an appetizer of green salad, an entrée of prime rib with mashed potatoes, along with a desert with a shortbread cookie with three scoops of ice cream. Each of the courses were delicious: the green salad has fresh vegetables, along with the dressing blending all the vegetables together perfectly. The prime rib is very tender (with quite a bit of fat for most of our dishes) and the mashed potatoes were neither too mushy nor powdery. I was extremely satisfied by the size of the steak(most of us needed to box the steak) The ice cream is very creamy, and the shortbread cookies were a bit overwhelming, since there was too much sugar.
The environment of the restaurant is relaxing, and it makes you feel as if you are in a movie theater. Fortunately, it was bright enough for us to read our menus, but I could use a bit more light.
Cons:
The service was somehow disappointing. It was not as good as the last time I went there, since the waiter needed to be reminded multiple times in order to be told that one of our guests is lactose intolerant; he told us the ice cream is gluten-free. The waiters are not as knowledgeable as the managers themselves, since we asked if we could use a gift card that we bought the same day and he wasn't sure. We had to wait for quite a while in order for him to figure that out.
The food is not as good as what I hoped it to be, and I am somehow discouraged. I was not the slightest bit impressed or blown away by what happened today, mostly due to the lousy service. I truly hope that the next time I come back, I will not be dissatisfied again.
