  • I had my daughter's one year birthday party here. If I knew then what I know now, I would have saved it for maybe her 2nd or 3rd party. And I may still do that but at another location. If you read any of my reviews, you'll learn that I do things WAY in advance. I booked this spot for my daughters party in March to have it in September. Yea, that's how I roll. I also paid up front for the party ($240). Come to find out I was charged but then the charges were reversed. Now I don't keep up with my account like that at times. I keep up with it when I know money will be coming out but not for unexpected charges. On the day of the party, AFTER the party, I find out we have a balance. Now this was lowered to $185, but I went all out for my baby girls party. I mean ALL OUT! I had to have spent well over $1000. BUT! I spread everything out so we wouldn't be hit all at once with the costs. And I was not expecting to shell out $185 the day of the party. Especially considering that I shelled out $300 for the food. The staff attempted to make up for it with giving us 3 days of free play. Probably won't use it, because: A. We're moving B. All was good until this and something else left a bad taste in my mouth. I was told the day I booked my party that I would have 30 minutes to set up. Come to find out when I get there that we actually have 10 minutes. Say what now! Luckily I was given the 30 minutes because I had a lot of stuff to put up. Fortunately, the staff helped with setting up and they were very helpful too. They thought I was going to use their party stuff (clown stuff). Nah... I wanted my stuff. The girls helping said this is the best decorated party they've seen (I'm doing a Jay Z brush my shoulders off move). The play time during the party was pretty cute. There was a bit of free play mixed in with some organized activities. The whole party was an hour and a half. They had parties for the day back to back. So while we're leaving, the next party is coming in. Kind of tacky. So I've learned some lessons here: 1. If I decide to use another Gymboree for future parties I'm going to see if we can buy an extra hour of time to allow people to enjoy their food, play time, and socializing... to leave without new people coming for another party confusing the situation. 2. Get EVERYTHING in writing and signed so if any new or other staff try to debate any of what I was told, they can't... because it'll be written down and signed. 3. Call at least 2-3 months in advance to make sure they have all their money so there are no surprise charges in the end. 4. Before considering a Gymboree look at other spots (bowling, chuck E cheese, sky zone, etc (consider all options/prices) before deciding.
