  • I visited Van Rijk intending to ascertain the market value of 2 family heirloom (ladies) "mid-century" 18K gold watches, a Patek and a Rolex. Alec van Rijk was most understanding and helpful, explaining the valuation criteria, the condition of the watches, and his shop's services in the selling process. At no time did I feel any "transaction pressure" and he was most generous with his time and explanation details, while knowing that I did not intend to sell the watches right then and there (I was doing the investigation on my wife's behalf). And (after visiting also 2 of his competitors) his valuation was the highest.
