| - This is a great place to flex your creative muscle. Even more true, if you haven't used that particular muscle for some time, like me. National Geographic sponsored this special painting session based on an Antonio Banderas movie about Picasso. We painted self portraits, Picasso Style. We also got to take home a cool National Geographic art apron!
If you've never been , don't worry, you don't need a lot of artistic talent to leave with a gorgeous piece of art created by YOU. Starting with a roughly outlined canvas, the teaching artists instruct you step by step on how to fill in details. You can do exactly what they do, or put your own little twist on certain features
The whole piece was done in about two hours. If you want to finish in the class time, you really have to keep focused and work continuously. They let you bring drinks (including alchohol) and munchies but you don't have much time to imbibe. Don't worry, if you don't finish, they have scheduled times that you can return and complete your work.
This location was easy to get to, and had plenty of parking available on site. The staff was super enthusiastic. And walk around offering tips and help throughout your session. I can't wait to go back.
