| - Kiddie Academy sets the bar high. It has been a spectacular place for our one-year old daughter. She's been going there since she was a baby and is now moving up into the older rooms. All the staff members there seem so happy and genuine. Many of them have their own kids and can relate to what the little ones are going through whether it's hitting milestones, teething, etc. Michelle, the director, is such a good listener, very approachable and professional. She is very quick to respond to all inquiries. It is clear that the owners, particularly Ricardo is very involved and when administration sets the bar high, you know that staff are expected to maintain those standards.
I'll share one story, my daughter was transitioning to the Penguin Room (12-18 months), and through the WatchMeGrow camera I could see a staff person trying to get her down for a nap on a cot and then I suddenly remembered that her pacifier was in her car seat, which was parked in the community room. I called over there and Ricardo picked up the phone, I quickly explained the situation and I kid you not, it couldn't have been more than a minute later, but I see my little one sleepily going down with her pacifier in her mouth -- he jumped on the situation and did not hesitate to run out, find the car seat, grab the pacifier and magically give it to the staff person without disturbing the other kiddos sleeping. This is just one of many little stories that I can share about how wonderful Kiddie Academy has been. Every staff person seems to know all of their kids and parents, it's just a very pleasant, warm and welcoming environment.
Kiddie Academy uses two top-notch programs for tracking the kids. The WatchMeGrow program offers you a streaming camera service where you can watch your little one in his or her classroom. They also have cameras outside and in the community room. I love being able to log into the website and check on my daughter, it's also an app that's available on your phone or tablet, so I can check on her when I'm on the go. The streaming camera service is simply remarkable, I did not think it would make such a big difference (I had my daughter in a daycare prior to Kiddie Academy without cameras), but I was wrong! I check on her throughout the day and it really makes me happy to see her napping, playing, eating, enjoying crafts and all sorts of other activities.
The second feature that they have is their Tadpoles program, which is a digital daily report that is sent to your phone and email after your child has been picked up for the day. It tracks naps, meals, diaper changes, activities and pictures/videos daily. My daughter's previous daycare used a digital report, but it was in more of a messaging format, which was so annoying because I had to scroll through to get the information I wanted because it tracked activities chronologically and not very well.
So, for example, if I wanted to see how many meals she ate, I had to scroll and count, skipping diaper changes, storytimes, and other activities to get to the information that I wanted. With Tadpoles, the report is more parent-friendly, meaning all of her naps are listed under on section, all of her meals are listed under another section. So if I want to see when she last ate, I could just look quickly instead of having to scroll through tons of other "messages."
Another great thing about the Kiddie Academy and Tadpoles is that the reports are sent as soon as she's picked up. As I work later most nights, I get an alert on my phone from the Tadpoles app and an email right after my husband picks up our daughter, so I can see what her day looked like. With the other daycare, the "reports" weren't sent until 7 pm at night, which does not help -- especially when you have a little, little one and need to track her feedings and naps carefully.
I could really go on and on about how wonderful Kiddie Academy is for our daughter and our family. I would hands-down recommend Kiddie Academy to any parents who are looking for a place that they can trust with their children. With programs like WatchMeGrow and Tadpoles, highly educated and compassionate administrators, and a team of caring and trained staff, there is no doubt that Kiddie Academy offers one of the best daycares in the valley, if not THE best.
