| - Short: It's fine. If I go to Vegas again I would prefer a shinier place, but would still consider the Tropicana because of my Hilton Honors. That said, would be as likely to rent a car for the entirety of the trip and find something like a Hampton Inn off-strip.
Room: My room in the club tower was large and fairly clean, but needed some attention to a moldy shower curtain and stained seat cushions. That's nothing I don't encounter regularly at other hotels, so whatever. Bed was good as usual at Hiltons. Heard virtually no noise, save for some sirens.
The largest con was the flood lights that lit up the building. Because the rooms have shutters rather than traditional hotel curtains, it's impossible to get your room dark, day or night. This didn't affect my sleep personally, but I don't think it's an insignificant annoyance. There was no refrigerator (bummer, but expected). One other odd thing, the tv channels were strange in that they didn't go in order/did not correspond to the hotel's channel card. Weird.
Conference: Exhibit hall was extremely dark, floor plan we received was not accurate. Our booth was supposed to be facing a doorway (and thus have great traffic) but we actually faced a wall and could tell our traffic was affected. Rest of the conference center seemed ok. The opening night entertainment and food was 5 stars and the best part of my stay. GES convention services was also very helpful.
Hotel overall: Really freakin spread out. I checked with my fitbit and it was a quarter mile from my room to self parking, because there's no other way out of the hotel than through the casino. Restaurant options are quite good, though pricey (where are those cheap Vegas buffets???). Casino just seemed pretty gross, but to be fair I would probably say that about most of them (If you didn't infer by now, this was a work stay and I wasn't here to have fun). Carpet throughout is dingy red and needs to be replaced for a better look. All that's to say...no major inconveniences here, no major pros here.
