| - I hate waking up on the weekends hoping to make some wonderfully wonderful french toast only to find that I have no eggs,
but
I love walking down my stairs in my flannel pjs, glasses and rats nest for hair and stumbling into Crawford Market for all my morning food needs! The convenience of having a mini grocery store on your street is tantamount to having a personal chicken laying fresh eggs for you!
Crawford Market (at the corner of Crawford and Harbord) is a great little shop that has everything from frozen foods, to produce, to baking necessities, to espressos and freshly made sandwiches. The store is also a mini pharmacy, toy store, video shop and cat playground (they have two very cute and very fat felines that saunter the aisles and meow and rub against your legs as you shop).
The owners of the store are a very kind Portugese couple who practically shoved homemade sandwiches and coffee down my throat the first time I went in there. He, very proud of his espressos, and she, very friendly; are both talkative and even spot if you didn't bring enough change for toilet paper. (They understand the necessity!)
Most days, they serve pre-bought baked goods such as cinnamon buns for only 50 cents as opposed to $2! This is my quick-stop shop for convenient purchases and late night snack foods!
Crawford Market is open 7 days a week (though closed on sporadic Sundays) from about 9am-9pm.
