| - It's my 500th review! What better way to commemorate that than with a 5-star review?
For my xxth birthday (after all, you're never supposed to ask a woman her age. I'll leave the actual number up to your imagination), my boyfriend took me here for dinner. It's right up the Duquesne incline so if you're sitting by the window, you'll get an amazing view of Pittsburgh.
Everything from the beginning to the end was fantastic. Our waiter (I wish I could remember his name but I did have a few birthday drinks that night after all) was really attentive and nice - he even helped us snap a few pictures at the end of the night, even though I'm sure he was super busy.
For my entree, I went with the parmesan rockfish (Parmesan coated with lemon peppercorn cream). It was amazing. The cream sauce wasn't too heavy, which is something hard to find when ordering something with a cream sauce.
My boyfriend had the chimichurri swordfish (cilantro, basil, chile lime sauce), which tasted really refreshing. It would have went really well with a side salad.
None of the fish dishes come with sides, so we decided to get the lobster crab mac and cheese to share. This came out piping hot and cheesy, and you could actually taste the chunks of shellfish.
We ended up eating a little bit of everything and we were stuffed. To top it all off, they gave us a complimentary birthday dessert (anything from the dessert menu). I chose this pineapple cake thing which was pretty good, and not overly sweet. We also ordered the angel food grilled cheese sandwich, which our waiter said was their most popular. It's caramel iced Angel food cake, cream cheese filling, berry compote, vanilla ice cream, and toasted almonds. This was a little too sweet for me but the vanilla ice cream definitely helped balance it out a bit.
We ate our leftover fish the next day and it still tasted great - not something you can say too often about day-old microwaved fish.
Who knew you could get such fresh seafood in Pittsburgh?! Would definitely recommend if you're in town and are looking for dinner with a view.
