Five stars. This Lakewood expat is thrilled that such a cool place opened up in her hometown, and just wishes it was here when she lived there so she could go more often. It sure beats having to go to the Caribou chain place across the street.
The vibe is every bit as cool as the similar independent shops I have been to in Seattle. Bonus: it's not near a "college" or an "arts area" so you get a nice mix of regular joes and janes and teens as well as some hipsters, artists, students, political types and other people you'd expect to dominate this type of a coffee bar, without having too much of any one type of person to the point where it makes others feel out of place. Phoenix also does a great job of supporting local music through lots of groovy open mic nites. Oh, and the coffee is good too!
One small suggestion: offer bubble tea year-round - there's a dearth of places west of Downtown offering it, and it's a basic enough drink. I understand it is sometimes on the menu but never seems to be available when I drop by.
