| - as a preferred renter for six years, and a business owner, and somebody has worked in customer service for over five years, I'm very disappointed and discouraged by today's visit at Scottsdale store 420. I had a job in Scottsdale, and I live down in Queen Creek and I forgot my power washer today. I went into the store this morning and rented a four hour rental on an electric power washer. I waited in line and was very patient and polite as I encountered Cliff, one of the equipment rental clerks. I left the store and proceeded to my job site which was 20 minutes away. we had several items to taco before we could clean the clients backyard patio with the power washer. when the time came to run the machine I did everything I've done for years using power washers with hooking up the water and making sure there is a constant water supply and no kinks. Their machine did not work correctly and there is no pressure, absolutely no pressure as if I was using a standard hose without the pressure washer. I wrap the machine up and return to the store and at this time it was already after 1230 and my rental was due back at 1:44 PM. as I was unloading the unit from the truck in the parking lot I looked over and saw Cliff walking through the parking lot. he recognized me and saw me unloading the unit, and I looked over and told him that I had a problem with the unit and there was no pressure. His immediate response was "well don't you think you had it out a little too long to have a problem with it now?" his comment hit me like a ton of brick with disrespect and disregard to my issue. I was immediately aggravated that I was already being treated this way. I brought it into the store and Santa Jim was the clerk at the desk Who approached me to assist. I told him the issue and asked him if we could test the unit or get a Nother unit and test to make sure that I was leaving with something that worked as I needed to finish the job.he told me that they had no way to test machine and they did not have a garden hose to hook it up to. I thought to myself: Home Depot does not have a garden hose? I then proceeded to tell him that I would like to return the unit and get a refund so that I could go elsewhere to rent a unit as I needed something to finish my job. he told me that number one he could not refund my money, and two that the unit was dirty. The unit had a bit of dust on it but definitely was not dirty, and how dare he treat me this way and reject my needs as a customer who shops at Home Depot daily and rents all the time with no issue, never returning units for a refund to get ahead, never taking advantage of the store. I am a business owner, and I treat people with respect and I have integrity. When somebody treats me this way it makes me want to tell the world. I asked to speak with the store manager and within 10 minutes Brock arrived, and immediately approved my refund. I explained to Brock how I was treated in front of Cliff and Santa gym, and two of the pro desk workers stood by and listened to me as well as two customers waiting in line. Santa Jim and Cliff both insisted on chiming in as I explained to Brock how I felt, they chimed in and continue to talk over me explaining that I have the unit out too long to have any kind of issue related to the unit addressed.
that is not a way to run a business. When somebody brings in a unit and expresses that they still need to use the unit and this one doesn't work, you address the issue with kindness and respect. You don't treat somebody as if they are taking advantage of the store. this needs to be addressed, I hope that the store manager Corey will take this seriously and contact me and let me know that this situation is not the norm and that it will be addressed and customers like myself will be treated with respect as I did not raise my voice nor tone nor give any type of body language or disrespect to any of the workers, only explain how I felt and explained that this situation is being handled all wrong.
