Green Cab's quality just isn't what it used to be. Response times are usually very slow; what once used to be a 3-5 minute wait is now 15-30. Cabbies and dispatchers are disgruntled every now and then. I don't even blame them; judging from the shift in quality and just talking with their drivers, I get the impression that Green Cab lacked the scalability to respond to an increased demand for their service. Hence you've got overworked cabbies, a lack of reliable coverage, and, worst of all, noticeably higher fares. Their dispatchers will basically tell you to fuck off if you try calling them at night on a weekend, and yet they somehow have the gall to get mad at you when a competitor's cab scoops up your fare. If you don't like it, don't make Badger Cab feel like the faster & cheaper alternative. That's setting the bar pretty low.
But since Green Cab entered the market a couple years ago, it seems like the competition has stepped up and everyone in Madison gets better cab service as a result. So, for that, I'm pretty thankful. None of the companies gouge the hell out of their prices anymore and it's so much easier to get a taxi these days. Green Cab introduced the idea of having standards to Madison's taxi industry - try to keep it up.
