The city's namesake fountain shoots off every hour, on the hour, during daylight hours and lasts about 15 minutes.
Our eyes were pasted to the concrete water lily in the middle of the lake for 20 minutes in anticipation of this man-made geyser.
At first when it started, I was a bit unimpressed with the spray being a mere 30 feet or so high, then 50 feet... 70... 90... 130... 200... holy guacamole.
Once the water picked up momentum it just kept climbing and climbing. The jet is apparently similar to a fire hose, launching water at least 300 feet straight up, getting up for 550 feet.
While the fountain made us stare in awe, I doubt we would make the trek up just to look at it again unless we were in the area.
