Just had my second sky dive this past weekend at Skydive Las Vegas. My first dive was about 8 years ago with different company in Hawaii. Four of us were in town to relax in Vegas this weekend and one of my friends never had been sky diving before, so I was willing to go again. (I thought I would never do it again after my first experience, which was really bad because it was through a rain cloud). No need to worry about the weather in Las Vegas. Beautiful day out and not a cloud in the sky.
I was overall very pleased about the experience here. It was professional and very efficient. The instructors would land in the landing zone, grab their chutes and run back into the hanger where three people were re-packing the chutes. The instructors would then grab another pack and off to the plane with the next student. It was interesting to watch them pack the chutes, which I had never seen before. Seems as though each instructor gets between 7-12 jumps a day.
I was never pressured to buy the video/DVD/pictures, but that may have been because it was my second jump....I did buy the video the first time I jumped.
The company picked us up in a van across from Mandalay Bay at about 7:30am and we were back by about 11:20am. We finished our jump by 9:45 but had to wait around until a few others finished and then you have to wait until people get their DVDs before the shuttle takes people back.
They video you with the arm cameras that are strapped to their wrists, which is nice but gives a certain view. The first time I jumped, you paid for a camera man to jump with you and film you with his helmet cam. Gave a real good overview of the jumping experience which I preferred to the way Sky Dive Las Vegas does it. The video on DVD is about 100 bucks depending on format.
Overall, I was really pleased with service and experience here. Mark was my instructor and did a great job explaining things and providing reassurance, etc. I would recommend this company to those interested in skydiving.
