What a disappointment! This museum is poorly managed. First of all, it is expensive and most of the exhibits are off limits. I think the museum is a victim of the surroundings so management is extra careful hiding most of what it has to offer unless you're on a guided tour which I found infrequent and inflexible. How ironic, the gift shop sells a book on 'vanishing Cleveland landmarks.' Management here completely destroyed what was called for eons the Napoleon room again, hiding French antique collection in a warehouse and then painted over the beautiful Napoleonic murals that once graced this room with a drab, beige colour. Whoever decided this should be flogged! The neat little 'main street' village in the bottom floor, is wiped out. We were told it was under renovation, but didn't look like much was going on here, either, in terms of any renovations. I noticed we also didn't get a break in admission due to this part of the museum that is no longer accessible.
Like much of Cleveland, leave this museum to how you may remember it from years ago and don't waste your time or your money. Very sad...
