| - Well I bought a vehicle from this place in 2010 and it was not a bad experience, but since then it has really got bad. First off, they say if you refer a customer that buys a vehicle you get $100.00. This is not true, it is a scam and lie. All you get by referring a friend to this place is a earful from your friend on how terrible the management and customer service is there.
Most of the vehicles at this place are previous rental vehicles so they are in bad shape. I bought an Impala in 2010. Days later the electric door locks broke and Equity would not help. I made another mistake just last month and bought a Fusion from this place. Apparently, I did not learn from the first experience here. Same thing, I had to take it to a Ford dealership days later due to issues with the car however that was not the worse thing that occurred.
Equity tell you the "out the door price" then a month later tell you that you need to give them more money or they wont pay for your tags and process them through MVD. They sit on all the MVD paperwork and do not submit your paperwork in a timely manner. My temp plate expires in two days, and I still dont have my license plates. When I call them about it, (when they finally picked up the phone and actually returned my messages) they wanted another $200 to process my paperwork. Furthermore, they make you pay for the renewal on your temp tag. If you dont you risk getting a $500.00 fine if the police pull you over and give you a ticket.
The salesmen are not bad people but the management (the people who make the decisions) are awful con artists. This place advertises the lowest prices online but BEWARE you will pay more in the end. This comes from hidden charges, scams and when you have to take your car to the dealer days later to be repaired.
If Tony, one of the managers talks to you at this place, my suggestion get back in your car and RUN AWAY! Your bank account will thank me later.
Overall, I have purchased several good used cars over the years. Liberty GMC in Peoria do pretty well for a good price. A little more dough on the sticker but there are no hidden costs, con artists there and you dont need to take it back in a couple days to be repaired.
STAY CLEAR OF EQUITY AUTO!!!!!
