  • I have used Budget truck to move accross country 10 times now and have only had a serious problem twice, so I guess an 80% rate is okay. The last experience I had, I reserved the truck 30 days in advance with a tow dolly, 2 days before the moved we called the Budget truck location and confirmed that they had our truck and the appropriate tow. Moving day comes and we pick up the truck, but they do not have the trailer that we requested, so they give us an SUV/Tractor Trailer tow (so now I have to pay for the gas on an extra 5000 pounds), fine. We get the truck loaded and go to load our car on the back of the SUV trailer and hey the ramps are at a 40 degree angle, which we can't even get the bumper up. So we call the store and they do not have any other dollies, so we call the 800 number and we are told that they can not look up inventory. The 800 customer service emails a request for a tow dolly to the stocking warehouse in Vegas and we are told that he will call us back in 2 hours (at this time its 3pm).... so we wait and wait. I call back the 800 number and she tells me we have to wait the 2 hours before she can put in another request.... well guess what 5pm comes and now they are closed for the night and no one ever called us back.... we try Uhaul for a dolly and they wont give a tow for a competitors truck (back to square one). Mind you we have had no communication from Budget and are leaving on our 3000 mile journey the next morning. My husband and I called every Budget in Las Vegas (WHY COULD THEY NOT DO THIS?) found a brand new trailer and the owner was kind enough to leave it outside for us to pick up even after they closed. After all of that and no phone call from Budget until we arrived at our destination. Also they gave us a truck with no antifreeze so day 1 we overheated and day 2 we had 2 tires blow because they were bald to begin with. The roadside service is great though (this is our 3rd tire blow out with Budget). What an epic trip. Not sure I will ever use Budget again. The 800 number did call me two weeks later and offered to give me $150 off of my bill...I don 't understand why they didn't just fix the problem to begin with.
