I'm so done, I'm done! Been wanting to check this place out since I ran across it a few weeks ago. Especially since I heard about their appearance on the Steve Harvey Show and his marriage proposal as a result from tasting their cake. However, most times when I stopped by they were closed because of their limited hours. Just so happened to catch them open today and excitedly stopped in with girlfriend of mine.
Two gorgeous little ladies were there working the front counter. I'm thankful they were there to happily answer my questions and take my order cause if I had to be served by whom I assumed was one of the "sisters" I probably would have walked right back out. She didn't appear to want to be there or us either. The girls were trying to get our order out while she was hovering over them micromanaging. It wasn't necessary because the girls knew what they were saying and doing. Watching the way she treated them made me cringe a bit. But none the less, bring on the cupcakes!
The girls decorated them with top notch skills. I loved the extra touches. But my girlfriend and I both left saying these better be good cause after watching the way they were treated, that's the only way we would go back. My friend took one bite of hers and exclaimed, "Girl, these ain't nothing but Betty Crocker!!" And alas, she was absolutely correct! What a huge disappointment. A cupcake over the price of $1 should NEVER come out of a box. I mean they didn't even try to dress up the box cake (there are ways) so that it doesn't taste like a box cake!
So while I wish them much success in their endeavors, I will continue to patronize the bakery down the way. Their cupcakes are made from scratch, bigger and cheaper. Sorry sisters...
