| - Rula Bula means something along the lines of a 'fun party,' and this Irish pub didn't disappoint! A friend and I came here after she'd heard great things about it, and I'm glad we did - Rula Bula is definitely different from the typical Mill Ave bar scene, with a slightly older crowd. They have a good selection of beers and ciders on tap, including Magners (they have bottled pear, and apple on tap), which I hadn't had since studying abroad years ago!
They have lots of seating, both indoor and outdoor, which makes for an easy time finding a table.. just be aware that the patio is smoking-friendly though, so if you're sensitive to second-hand smoke, it might be better to sit inside. Our server was also very friendly, and checked in with us regularly to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.
I only ordered cider while there, but my friend also got their shepherd's pie, due to the positive reviews. Before we'd met up, she'd mentioned craving mashed potatoes, which was a good thing I guess, because the dish appeared to be about 75% potato, 25% everything else.. it was also only lukewarm when she got it, but our server was kind enough to heat it a bit more.
Overall, in terms of atmosphere and service I'd give Rula Bula a 5/5, but I took off 1 star because of my friend's dinner. If you're looking for an Irish pub, and want a different experience from the typical Mill scene, I'd recommend trying out Rula Bula :)
