| - I was really torn on giving them four stars. But the main entree was just not something I would come back for.
Everything started out great. Our server was on top of it. Her name is Shay, and girl, you are just a SuperServer. She is five stars. She is excellence in itself.
The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is pretty good, casual yet upscale bbq joint. They nailed that.
One thing to note is that all the meats are smoked for over 20 hours. Sounds good! We own a smoker, and the longest we had smoked anything was 8 hours.
For the appetizer, we ordered the Q rolls; Tortilla wrapped brisket deep fried and served with chipotle sauce. YUMMY! Delicous! If I come back, I will order these again. The cornbread everyone raved about was alright..
For the main entree we split the 3 meat combo; the pork, brisket, and sausage. For the sides we had mashed potatoes and the mac and cheese. Sure glad we shared. It was alot of food.
This is where it falls for me. Maybe I went on an off day; but the meats were disappointing, especially after hearing they have been smoked for 20 hours. It was not flavorful or delectable or anything, just meat that was edible. Even drowning it in bbq sauce didn't make it anymore appetizing for me. The mashed potatoes were very very BLAND. I salt and peppered them to death trying to flavor them a bit. The mac and cheese was very creamy, and was decent, but...I make tastier mac at home, thought not as creamy. Its sad for me to convey this; I really was not satisfied with my meal.
Now the doughnuts they provided at the end of the meal was fresh and good.
I don't know if I will be back, mainly because I want to try other restaurants and there are so many options out there. But when I finish my quest to attempt different types of eateries, Bobby Q is not a place I would write off.
