Went there based upon reviews. Had a brake light on, which he told me that would not cause me to fail emissions. Asked him to check the rest of the car out as well.
I get a call 2 hours later stating mechanic hasn't looked at it but he was able to put it on a scanner and found out it had an engine code. He stated this will fail you at emissions and you need to fix it.
The repair was $500ish
Also stated the water pump was leaking and that repair would be $1200ish
At this point he has never really addressed the brake light being on. The original reason for coming in, I asked he responded with it's an internal code and that would be very expensive to fix.
Ok. My background. From Michigan. Self employed for a large part of my life. Can work on pretty much anything but when comes to auto codes I take it in.
Called mechanic (friend) back home. Asked what he charged for water pump remove and replace. He asked what engine and he came back at 2.4 hour repair total cost $400ish. Third the cost of Faiths
Back to engine code. No engine light on but guy at Faiths said code is there and car would not pass emissions.
I decided to take car to emission testing anyway. It passed. No codes.
I will be doing the water pump myself. $65 in parts.
I would have been out $1700ish. Just saying.
Be careful.
Good luck
