  • This place has so many good reviews already, but let me just try to further persuade whoever is deciding if they should go to Vic & Anthony's for a good piece of meat and excellent service. I took my family here for my mom's birthday on a Sunday night. A party of five. We arrived fifteen minutes late from our reservation. We had to wait for a couple minutes and were seated shortly after. I love the mahogany decor and the dimmed lighting - very romantic. Our server, Victor, was very nice. I was skeptical of his nicety at first - thinking he is going to try to sell me the most expensive item on the menu. As it turns out, he kind of knew what he was talking about. He recommended a promotional red wine, which our party loved. The boyfriend ordered a bombay sapphire, and he liked it. (He then finished up the bottle of red wine also.) For appetizer, we had the steak tartar, the infamous crab cake, and a dozen of the fresh oysters. All were delicious except for the crab cake. Not that the crab cake had anything wrong with it, but it was "a crab cake with an edge" to quote the boyfriend. It was chunky crab meats, which is always a plus, but it didn't have as much flavor to it as I would have liked. So go ahead, give it a shot if crab cakes are your thing. It was by no mean terrible. The steak tartar was very fresh - no one got sick afterward. The oysters - almost comparable to those served in Santa Monica, CA. Our group shared a caesar salad and the spinach salad (recommended by Victor), and they were also delicious. The spinach salad triumphs the caesar, however, in my humble opinion. The spinach salad is tossed with this honey vinaigrette, that is to die for, really. It is a very flavor dressing but not one that weighs down your palette. It leaves a fresh, light, summery feel to your mouth after each bite. We also tried the lobster bisque, and it was also very good. However, Joe's Stonecrab at the Forum Shop might have a slightly better one - just slightly... Onto the entrees!!! We had the bone-in ribeye - medium rare, prime ribeye - medium, organic lamb chop - medium rare, and the shrimp scampi. The bone-in ribeye was to die for! I mean, the meat literally melted in my mouth!! The perfect texture and temperature - I couldn't believe that I had found a better place for ribeye (Flemin's and Joe's was previously my favorite.) The prime ribeye was good, but maybe because it was cooked to the temperature of medium, it made the texture a bit tougher than I'd like, but still very good. As for the lamb chops - I don't personally like lamb chops, but I had a bite, and to my little knowledge with lamb chop, it was passable. The boyfriend had the lamb chops, and he killed it - finishing it by picking up the rib and torn what was left off on the bone. Lastly, the shrimp scampi was good, but I think by the time we tried the shrimp, we were so full. What was interesting with this shrimp scampi was the sauce - it was of a spicy tomato sauce, which was very good with the fresh ciabatta bread they serve throughout our meal. We also had the wild mushrooms and mac and cheese as sides. No one, except the boyfriend, liked the wild mushrooms. Mac and cheese was okay... Nothing special. We didn't have dessert since we had cake at home, but they do have the largest scotch menu I have ever seen. Last but not least, I promise to wrap this up, the service there is great!!! I mean, I am a true believer of good, friendly customer service. If they serve good food, but terrible service, I wouldn't see the point to come back. Our glasses were always filled, and Victor was so honest about what was good (or maybe the menu just didn't have anything bad...) Anyways, the service is what made me give this place the fifth star. I hope I have convinced those who want to come to Vic & Anthony's but are skeptical of going downtown to the Golden Nugget thinking how could downtown has good steaks to offer. I was skeptical once, but now I am a true believer. I would definitely come back to Vic & Anthony's. Enjoy!!!
