| - Drove out from San Diego and spent Friday-Monday at the rumor hotel. Overall I would recommend this place and stay again if I went back and found another deal on it.
Positives:
+ Nice location, right across from the hard rock and very close to the strip
+ Hotel Service left us very satisfied from valet's to front desk, check in and check out didn't take long
+ Rates were very good for our stay ($75/night for Friday and Saturday through a 3rd party site for Friday/Saturday and $55 for Sunday through rumor's web site, before taxes and resort fees, base room)
+ Non casino hotel which is much more relaxing and not smoke filled
+ Pool & Yard open 24 hours (we made use of the lawn at 2am playing bags)
+ Hammocks out in the courtyard if you want to get some r&r
+ Internet Access included in resort fee (casino hotels typically charge per internet connection)
+ Room was nice, clean, pretty open in space with a bed and couch, also had a balcony. Bed was comfy and easy to sleep in. Outside music and airplane noise didn't bother us.
+ Fun atmosphere geared towards the younger crowd (a bit too cool for a nerd like me but it was still fun!)
+ The front desk was named Shaughn, with my name being Shaun it's always nice to see a different variety of my spelling since noone else knows how to spell my name.
Negatives:
- Valet parking only, no self park. They also have some of the entrances closed off at night so you have to keep a lookout on which ones are open.
- They do charge a resort fee ($9.95/night)
- No office area in case you need internet access. There was a lady that had this issue when we left, the front desk was trying to lookup the info for her though.
- Some rooms have adjoining doors. We were placed next to a couple that had a kid there (not sure why they'd bring kids here) and was making loud noises at 7am-9am. We went to bed at 3am and don't want to hear whooo whooo whooo. However, we spoke to the front desk the next day and they moved us to another room no problem. So the issue was resolved and this isn't really the hotel's fault just more of bad luck. Slept great the last two nights.
- Room had minor issues (two of the lights didn't work in the first room and the bathroom door had trouble closing in the second room).
- From a video nerd perspective the tv's are a bit small for the room. They are LCD's prolly around 32" which are nice (my buddy was at Paris and had a small tube tv to compare) but they could be about 12inches bigger from the viewing distance to the bed. That's just me being in my own little world though.
- No fridge and the ice buckets are quite small
