| - Another quick, decent Thai place, located in a strip mall, Sala Thai seems like a neighborhood spot that you go to when you don't want to drive far - it wasn't bad but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here.
All the food we tried was pretty good except for the green curry, which had an odd flavor that I couldn't quite put my finger on. It tasted grassy or more medicinal than typical green curry and it was quite watery. We didn't eat much of that, but the veggie fried rice, pad kee mao, eggplant stir fry, Tom yum soup and papaya salad were all okay. The serving portions were very generous and prices are fair. Service was very quick and while our server was a bit forgetful he was friendly and easygoing when we had to remind him about our requests.
I liked the aquarium tank filled with plastic fish. It was a cute, homey touch and honestly more entertaining to watch than real fish.
For dessert, we tried the coconut ice cream, which was a struggle to share, because it was so good. The mango sticky rice on the other hand had rice so hard that it was unpleasant to eat - it felt like it had been left out overnight without being covered. On the other hand, the mango on the rice was perfectly ripe and went well with the ice cream.
Overall, it was a decent Thai dinner, but because of the curry and sticky rice being off, I'm leaving three stars for now.
