| - Took my dad and 2 brother here for dinner to celebrate my dad's belated birthday..
THE FOOD: 4/5
First and most importantly...the food was really good. Albeit desserts, the banana tempura and coffee Mochi were amazing and is one of the main components that would favor the odds in me going again. The diverse variety of interesting
Rolls and side dishes is what I liked most about this establishment. Some definitely better than others, but it all ultimately comes down to personal preference.
SUSHI CHEF/SERVICE: 1/5
Now the service was on the other hand was very disappointing and unwelcoming. When being seated, we asked to sit at the bar to where we could have a view of the tv. (which had my dads favorite team playing that night for Thursday night football) We asked to seat near the middle of the bar and was told they were closing this section down for the night. I asked if they were reserved but was told that section of the bar was not going to be available for customers and would not be seating anyone on that side for the night. So, we were sat in the left corner of the bar near the restrooms where there is little to no view of the tv, which isn't a huge deal to be honest because we were all talking/enjoying each other's company, & if we wanted to eat somewhere to watch sports we'd of gone to Buffalo Wild Wings or something lol. Really not an issue, but definitely a bit annoying considering the fact that within the next 5-10 minutes, as new customers arrived, they were greeted more welcoming and provided more favorable service with no restrictions when asking to sit at the bar, "Yes, of course, please sit anywhere you'd like."Couple that with the fact that every time we'd order anything, our chef was lacking professionalism and displayed bad manners/service. He kept insisting on making it a point that if we didn't finish the food they'd charge us extra. Which is understandable to let your customers know this, especially considering we did order a lot of food, but when your out trying to celebrate a birthday it definitely gives off bad vibes when your chef keeps reminding you of this rule every 3 seconds. Definitely lost major points with us given the fact that with each additional order his body language and tone continued to become noticeably more and more negative/pissy. Several times while he came over to collect new requests, he would hear the first one and while myself or someone in my party would begin to make a new request for other items he would ignore, cut off or immediately walk away while we were speaking to ignore additional requests. Needless to say we did finish everything we ate. But the service from being seated to dealing with the pissy-attitude chef was very underwhelming to say the least.
WAITING STAFF: 4/5
The waitresses/waiters who were running out drinks and side dishes however were extremely polite and professional and were very prompt and attentive to our needs. Outside of the seating situation we had initially had upon arriving, they were exceptional. The servers, specifically the middle aged Asian women who was working that night, were the only reason we decided to tip 20% and are the main reason we did not leave the place with a a bad taste in our mouths from the shortcomings of the chef.
Overall 3/5. Food was good. Service needs to get better. Sucks because all it takes is one person to ruin it for everyone. However in this case that "one person" happens to play a very important part in your restaurant. Hope for the future customers that they do not experience this as this NEEDS to be corrected. That chef is NOT an accurate representation of how the overall staff was. I do not over react like others who when experiencing bad service will immediately bash and do the most to make an establishment look bad. Not a horrible/unbearable experience by any means, the food was good and dishes were more creative than your typical sushi bar, but when there is so much competition here in Vegas, places like this simply cannot afford to underwhelm in the service department.
Food for thought.
