Today I Learned A New Level Of Generational Disrespect For Elderly People. Around 3:30pm today, I took my Dad to this barbershop called Sage and Sand Barbershop next door to Luke Air Force Base for a straight razor shave. When we arrived the shop was empty and we had to call for someone. Shortly thereafter a young male barber came out. My Dad asked how much for a straight razor shave, and the barber replied $12.00 Sir". My Dad who is 89 with severe dementia says "all man that's to much ", in which the young barber tries to confront my dad. In response my dad says "that's why this place is empty" and turns to walk out. Knowing my Dad really likes straight razor shaves I had to continue to convince him I was paying for the shave. After much coaching he agreed and we went back in. I told the young barber my dad is 89 and has Dementia so go with the flow. My Dad says to the barber," hey man how about giving the shave for $6.00". Now the Drama begins, the young barber says "How you going to come in here and negotiate with me wasting my time I don't have time for this get out". I chose to take the high road, and informed the young barber pray your parents when older don't develop dementia and his response "don't try to get me like that, dememtia or not he has no right to come in here and disrespect me". I just smiled, shook his hand, and left. An empty barbershop on a Saturday at 3:30pm, I guess loosing a sale is new business marketing!!!!
