My parents and I went to Fitzgerald's tonight for the first time in a while, although it had always been one of my mom's favorites. Wow. What a disappointment. It was by far one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. We arrived at 6 pm on a Friday for the fish fry. There were less than a dozen cars in the parking lot, and they didn't even have the dining room open, only the bar area. Empty tables everywhere but we were told we had to wait 20 minutes for a table (although there are tons of empty tables, they apparently had NO waitstaff there. At 6 pm on a Friday). The menu had been decimated, my mom's favorite dish is no longer on the menu, and what's left is minimal and very typical bar and grill fare, nothing special. Based on what we saw, the waitstaff that eventually showed up were the children of a bartender and our waitress could not have been older than 16. She was very nice but so inexperienced and didn't know what she was doing. I ordered a steak medium well and it came medium rare, I sent it back once but it didn't come back any more done and I didn't have the heart to send it back again. We waited for an inordinate amount of time for our check. Fitzgeralds, what the hell happened? From a family favorite to the worst dining experience I've ever had. We will never go here again.
