I had an irrational fear of shredded meats. They usually end up tasting without flavor accompanied by dry textures. This is why I've avoided this place for so long, but I regret that I did just that. What started as a fear ended up being a warm embrace. This Venezuelan establishment is a jewel above standard Latin and South American cuisine.
Located a few blocks north from The Stratosphere at the end of The Strip, lies a little strip mall where a small fast food joint looks to make a big punch with their specialty: the arepa.
Handcrafted and stuffed with flavorful and steaming shredded carne asada, the arepa is a pocket full of inspiring and familiar tastes. Along with the arepas are two sauces to accompany your meal. A spicy salsa-like sauce and a creamy, yet tangy sauce. You have to have one of these sauces at every bite, or you'll be missing out on this beautiful combination.
I ate this with a huge side of subtly tangy Basmati rice. A great combo if you ask me.
The service friendly, quick, and accommodating, you'll feel like you're king of the world during that five minute meal with this Venezuelan staple.
