  • 10/10 would not visit Coffee Rush again. I came with a group - there were 10 of us in total - in search of space for us to hold a meeting as our usual meeting place was too full. We walked in at the same time and split up a bit, surveying the inside and outside areas for a table or two that would fit us all. I didn't at all hear a 'hello' or 'welcome to Coffee Rush' directed to any of us; instead, one of the servers came up to me (I assume it was because I was closest to him at that point) and while he did ask if he could help me with anything, it wasn't with a very helpful tone. I replied, "I don't think so - we're just trying to find a place to sit right now." The server then takes it upon himself to inform me that at least half of our group has to purchase drinks in order for us to stay and while I am definitely always up for buying coffee, nothing makes me not want to buy from a company more than the bad attitude of an assuming server. This information is given to me right as we settle on a spot and begin rearranging a bit (nothing too big) in order to fit us. Not only did the first server, but a second server as well immediately jumped in and said that we couldn't sit there if we were going to block the pathway. We didn't believe that we would - we're used to squeezing - but apparently that wasn't good enough. The server took it upon himself to rearrange the tables so that only one side and the ends were accessible, with the other side being pushed up against the windows, told us that is how we could sit and then he walked away - not without first informing one of the guys that his outside drink "would have to go". Well, that arrangement wasn't going to do. We squeezed several people on the other side and there was more than enough pathway for people - I think I counted at least five, possibly six people who walked by in the hour or so that we were there, including a couple holding hands, and not one person complained. So being one of the five who is planning on purchasing drinks, I head up to the register with a request from another one of my group members to find out the WiFi password. I inquired as to what it was, and the same server from before informs me that it is on my receipt and it is only good for one hookup. Except, again, way more Judy Attitudy. Or, I guess, Jude Attitude, since he is, well, a he, after all. "So you can only access the WiFi here if you buy something?" I ask. "Yeah," smirk. So we all settle in and start the meeting and we're maybe ten, fifteen minutes in when the server literally walks up, plunks little menus down on the table, and explains that while some of us have drinks, more of us need to have them in order for us to stay and so he hopes to see us up at the register. No excuse me, just right in the middle of one of the guys who was speaking's sentence, then walks away. Two more people buy drinks (actually, one guy bought two separate drinks, as the only other person in the group who wanted a drink couldn't really afford it), we wrap up our meeting a while later, put all the tables and chairs back and head out. Do we get a single 'thank you', 'have a good night', 'see you later', etc? Nope, not one. Basically from the time we walked in until the time we left, we were treated like an unwelcome problem. The attitude of the servers, but especially the one, was atrocious. I think it is an absolutely ridiculous rule that at least half the group must purchase drinks. What is the sense in that? Literally because of that rule, one of my group members had to spend money to cover someone who could not AFFORD to buy anything. And the fact that the WiFi is only accessible via a log-in on your receipt? What if I don't want to buy something? What if I CAN'T due to a dietary restriction? Not to mention the fact that one of our group members looked Coffee Rush up days before we decided to meet there and she said that there was not a single place on the website that stated that we had to buy something to access the WiFi or that half the group must buy something. I regretted even buying what I did, as it was so sugary sweet that it made my stomach hurt. I do not at all care for how we were treated and it was 100% unanimous that we will never be returning there to meet again.
