  • Horrible Horrible Horrible My boyfriend and I went on the Thursday after Memorial Day weekend looking to rent a boat to take on the lake for a few hours. We should have read the signs and not gone from the beginning, but we really wanted to spend a day on the lake. Thursday morning I emailed the marina asking to reserve a fishing boat for 1/2 a day. I received a response saying they had no boats available for the whole day. We were upset, but already an our way so we decided to stop in and see if anything had changed. When we got there at 11, the parking lot had about 5 cars in it, clearly they were not busy. We walked the long dock out to the marina and to the shop. The only woman working was on the phone and did not recognize us until 15 minutes later when she got off the phone. She told us she had all boats except fishing boats available, so that was the first lie we caught her in. We chose to rent the 18' Pontoon for 1/2 a day for $210 which according to their website is from 12:15-4. She told us that the boat had to be back by 3:45 because she goes home at 4. When she showed us the boat she had a checklist of things to explain. She asked us if we had ever driven a boat before and we said no. She pointed to the controls and said "on, off, forward, back" she also showed us the prop and told us to drop it and the lift stairs while driving. When she showed us the stairs she realized that they were broken, and said "well just don't use it" so we could not get into or out of the water safely. She checked off the whole list, that was clearly not explained, and told us to make sure we weren't late(which technically would be early). We got out on the water and enjoyed 2 hours, except that we could not swim because of the ladder. At about 2:30 the boat started beeping loudly even though the gas and battery were both fine. It stopped after a few seconds so we disregarded it. We parked the boat shortly after to fish for a few minutes and when we went to move again, the boat would not start. We tried multiple times to start it with no avail. I called the marina around 2:45 but it went straight to voicemail. I tried 4 times and finally left a voicemail. I also sent an email with no response. We started to get worried so we contacted both the visitors center and sheriff's department in hopes to get a hold of the Marina. At 3:45 I finally got a call from the Marina asking where we were and said that their phone does not work. I told her our location and we waited 30 more minutes before I got another phone call asking to clarify out location because they could not find us. At this point we were floating dead center in the lake and no one else was in site. at 4:30 a speedboat finally arrived. She sent the marina security guard to get us. On his arrival we were told that he would not take us back, that he had to tow the whole boat. He did not apologize for us being stuck, or even ask how we were. 5 minutes into the tow, the rope ripped the front end of our pontoon into the water and we were stranded again. After some time he managed to re-tie the boat and had us stay on the broken boat for the remainder of the tow. When we reached the dock the woman from the marina greeted the security guard but not us. As we were walking towards the shop she asked if we had fun and we laughed and asked if she was kidding, and said that we wanted a refund. She seemed shocked and said "you were on the water for longer than you were supposed to be, I cant refund your if you were in the water the whole time" When we argued that we were stuck on a broken boat she said "we didn't hear from you, so you cant prove that" We complained about their phone not working and not being told and she said "I didn't tell you because I didn't expect any problems" THAT IS UNACCEPTABLE!! She said if we wanted to follow through with a refund we would have to contact her manager, who would not be in until the next day and to call(on the phone that does not work) . She claimed to have written a note and told us that she would contact us. We called 5 times leaving a voicemail every time, wrote numerous emails, and she did not contact us until 1 week later. She told us today that "It has been to long for a refund and will affect our drawer if we do that" Which is 100% false on credit card transactions. She said if we did a full day rental for $400 at a later date then we will get half off. There is no way in hell we will be back, and especially if we have to pay!! DO NOT GO HERE!!!!!!!!!
