| - A lot of service workers tend to enjoy their job (or at least they pretend to) especially in front of their customers. That was not the case this evening. We were with friends from out of town and said, with pride, that there is a great curry place to check out. The other staff was great, the food was great, but the quality of service was the lowest by far.
The male server greeted us by saying, "Just so you know, we can only split the check in four ways." I thought that was an odd version of "Welcome to Japanese Zen Curry. What can I get you?" He was very short with our friends when they were trying to decide what to order, did not offer suggestions, and spoke very monotone and had the facial expression like he was contemplating throwing himself out of the window of a moving vehicle. While I was ordering, I was looking over the side dishes to add to my curry plate. As I often do, I speak while I think and the server mistook it as me ordering and said, "Can you speak up? I can't hear you." I told him I wasn't telling my order and he exhaled like he was in hurry.
We received our food (only reason for the 2-star rating) and it was great as usual. Another server offered to print out individual receipts so we can group the payment in three instead of four per request of Mr. Sunshine to help clarify the order. Before we knew it, he comes to our table scolding us saying, "I TOLD YOU WE CAN ONLY SPLIT IN FOUR." I had enough at this point and responded, "You have three cards in your hands. We only want it three ways." When I offered to tell him that we can group it for him, his response was, "I don't know what you ordered!" I can see the awkward looks on our friends' faces so I stood up and had to spell out for him how to charge us.
After signing our bills, he comes over and asks, "Do you need anything else?" I laughed. And i said, "Nope." And he walks away. I don't know if he was forced to work or a family member died, but he does not belong there. I hope the owner or the friendlier staff members speak about his rudeness. Get some sleep, guy.
