Another example of abandoned beauty.
Its not everyday that you find yourself in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the mysterious. My mind kept asking ~
What was life like back then?
How did they get here?
How did people survive the heat & cold?
What was day to day life like?
How challenging everything must have been?
Or maybe the simplicity of things back then made for happier people?
It's an interesting way to spend your day and learning about history has always been fun for me. There are several remains left, some in better shape than others but all worthy of exploring.
It's amazing to think that this was a booming town with nearly 10,000 residents and it all began in the early 1900's as gold mining attracted folks from everywhere. What's interesting is that just in a few years it was all over & only a few dozen residents remained. Today there are just a few still living in this area. It's a very special place and exploring it makes you appreciate everything we have today.
There's also a cemetery down the road from town (about a 2 min drive) look for the signs that'll point you in the right direction. There are many people buried there and most of the graves aren't marked.
If you're in this area it's really worth the stop.
