| - So being from out of town, I told myself that I definitely had to get BBQ before I left. Unfortunately, when you're participating in a wedding and staying about 35 minutes from the venue, time runs a bit short. Found this place on Yelp, and we were a little skeptical since it was out in the burbs, but being that we were so short on time, we figured burbs BBQ was better than nothing. Upon first walking in, it was a nice sized space, clean, and pretty modern in terms of decor. My first thought was, well, guess I'm at a chain. Boy could I not have been more wrong. We were seated quickly, and the service was fantastic. The server gave us a rundown on the history and the well known dishes (i.e. the brisket). We got a combination platter of ribs, burnt tips, brisket, and pulled pork. Sides of mac and cheese, beans, and greens. In terms of the sauces, they had a standard BBQ, Carolina vinegar based sauce, a Carolina mustard, and a habanero BBQ.
The brisket was all it was cracked up to be. There was a nice pink ring from the smoking. There was a nice juiciness to it from the fat. Great smoke flavor that did not need sauce at all. Adding the vinegar sauce to the pulled pork definitely enhanced its flavor. The pork was already so tender. The burnt ends though, wow. So tender, smoky, and filled with flavor. The ribs had a nice dry rub to them and were fall off the bone tender. The greens were tender but not completely fall apart, perfect for my liking. Mac and cheese wasn't mind blowing but good. The beans had some chunks of pork in them that enhanced the flavor. I was completely wrong with my assumptions. I would definitely visit again if down in Charlotte.
