  • We moved to a new place and called them, the designer came with us to the see the house multiple times and helped envision the potential of this place before we bought. He was super helpful and without him we would not have purchased this home. * 5 Stars Now, moved in, 4 months later signed up a huge contract to redo all the bathrooms, living room and kitchen. Initial challenges: Drawings were very poorly made, the contract was way too high level, and when we added a whole bathroom, instead of drawing up a new contract, they decided to do a change order, (- this, + that) we trusted the designer and we had background working with them - so we went ahead. * 1 Star Project challenges: Measurements were a mess, multiple change orders sent over after the measurement, which after double checking were poor. This is a good point for us to have stopped work, we didn't. Project manager was assigned, the initial set of work started, the workers were great, worked through the poor drawings, measurements - they completed most of the small bathroom and the niche. When we looked at the niche, we found that it looked disproportionate and ugly. They agreed to redo it, and they did. Major demolition and rebuild. They couldn't get the HVAC come in to do the duct work for the vent. After dragging the feet for several days, the Project manager told us that we might not be able to do the Vent after all. After basically told them that without that the entire project is waste of $70,000 they started looking into options, the Project Manager did the work himself and managed to complete that item. Now coming to the funnest part of the project. The island was measured wrong, they had to order the cabinets three times - and three times they got the wrong part. The workers did custom carpentry work after the third time and completed it. Delayed the project completion by almost 100% by now. Painter gave me an a heart attack of an estimate, after a wrangling got it reduced marginally. Electrician gave me another heart attack of a bill, after walking through the contract line by line and removing items that should have been removed - paid about half of it. Tile guys did not show up for almost three weeks after the work to finish up. by now we had to go out of the country for several weeks and requested them to stop work. Finally the project was done. * 0 Star if I can - Republic West workers had been amazing throughout. They were working through every design challenges and all the roadblocks. Punctual and completed the work as planned. - The project manager worked through all the challenges and managed to keep it positive. - Granite/Slab sub contractor was a god sent. - Electricians did a thorough and clean job. - Plumbers did a clean and complete job. - HVAC did a marginal work at best, I ended up hiring someone to cleanup their work after. - Drywall & Paint did a great job. - Tile installers when they showed up did a great job. At the end of the day they completed the project satisfactorily - however many iterations it took them. But the management and the overall handling was a night & day between this project and the previous one. I ended up staying home and working at home almost every single day there was work happening to avoid surprises. Even then we found that the wrong tile had been installed in the bathroom floor. Too late now to do anything. I honestly no longer can recommend them to others, will I use them again? Most probably yes.
