| - Wow Wow Yum Yum = Mississauga's first ice cream shop to offer Thai-inspired ice cream rolls.
They offer a wide variety of flavours and toppings. There were so many, it took a bit of time to decide. We ordered blueberry + Oreo, mango strawberry, raspberry lychee, and taro + red bean. Each and every cup of ice cream was made with fresh ingredients...even the taro!
Just before their 6 o'clock closing two Saturdays ago, the line-up to order was short, but unfortunately, the wait for our ice cream rolls was extra long. We waited just over an hour..!
While our ice cream rolls were being made, we had a chat with the owners (I believe they are husband and wife, and they are lovely people by the way!). Turns out, Wow Wow Yum Yum opened way back in March but never gained popularity until Toronto's rolled ice cream shop opened. They realize Rockwood Mall is not popular at all, but are so happy with the amount of people visiting from all over the GTA. There are two ice cream roll machines, but as the owners know and as you'll quickly realize, they need to hire another individual to get those rolls going and get the line moving.
The owners realized we were purchasing two for friends at a BBQ nearby and it was a warm day, so they offered to keep our ice cream rolls in the freezer while we waited for the rest of our big order. I haven't experienced such thoughtful service in a while!
The ice cream was creamy and full of flavour. The owners weren't stingy with the amount of fruit / cookies they put into the ice cream. My cousin enjoyed her blueberry Oreo, and the mango strawberry ice cream rolls were as expected (so sweet and delicious). The raspberry lychee ice cream rolls stood out to me because raspberry or lychee is not something you can get everywhere, and the combination tasted great. On the other hand, there needs to be more taro in the taro red bean ice cream rolls -- the red bean overpowered the taro, so it tasted like any other red bean ice cream.
I noticed a very popular order was ice cream rolls with egg waffle (aka "bubble waffle"). I'm not sure how their egg waffles taste, but they are always fresh, made-to-order and presented nicely.
Wow Wow Yum Yum is the place to go if you live in and around Mississauga, you want to try Thai-inspired ice cream rolls, and you want to customize your ice cream. The location is not great but it is easily accessible, and the prices are comparable to other 'creative' ice cream shops. Last but not least, do expect a bit of a wait.
