While the park itself is beautiful and could be one of the nicest parks in the area, there is a major problem with dogs not being on a leash. My girlfriend and I went on a two hour hike. At the beginning of the hike, a dog ran at us. My girlfriend said to the owner, "Can you please put your dog on a leash?" The owner became belligerent and offended over my girlfriend requesting that her dog be on a leash. Throughout the hike, we encountered numerous dogs that were not a leash. There are signs at the park that mention a $300 fine. This obviously is not enforced. At the very end of our hike, two large dogs, that were not on leashes, became aggressive towards another dog. My girlfriend asked this owner to put his dog's on a leash. The owner acted hostile and walked towards my girlfriend and I while making threats. Keep in mind, this is all over asking owners to put a leash on their dog. My girlfriend and I were both dog owners in the past, and we love dogs. However, we do not want to feel unsafe while hiking with dogs that we don't know not on a leash. The city needs to enforce the policy of "Keeping your Dog on a Leash."
