| - My colleagues and I often go here for their AYCE lunch special. Can't go wrong with a $12 AYCE lunch (including soup and salad), $10 only if you want sushi and app items. They have some good rolls, none are specialty, but above the basic.
AYCE Sushi I recommend trying:
- Crunchy Roll
- Spicy Tuna
- Spicy Salmon
- Eel Avocado
- Eel Cucumber
- Tuna Avocado
AYCE Kitchen items:
- Pork Gyoza
- Veg Spring Roll
You must eat all or it's $1 per left over roll!!
One of my colleagues swears by the hibachi plate. He always gets that when the rest of us pig-out on sushi. ha ha
Ambiance - trendy, dim lighting, would be good for dinner date or something "special". Have been going with the hubs for dinner and it gets crowded. Might spot a Panthers player, as some live within the condo complex!
Usually I would give this place a 4, but since my last visit (haven't been there since) I only give it a 2 and here is why:
We had our usual lunch pow-wow and were ready to pay. We all paid separate, which we never had a problem before. This time when our server (also the bartender) returned our cards / checks I've noticed one of my colleagues card missing. The check showed that she had ran it, so he did give it to her (checked on name on receipt too, in case she had ran a card twice or something). We brought it to her attention and at first swore that she had returned it. She even said "i ran it, so you can just sign it"...uhm hello? It's a bright red bank of america card, we noticed it was not on the black check booklet. She attempted to look around our table - as we lost it. Maybe, but before putting it to her attention, we (3 of us) had checked thoroughly. The server walked back and forth the bar / register, re-tracing her steps. looking on the ground, nothing. Probably 10 minutes go by. I even went to other tables which had received checks and were left on the table to see if it was tucked in with those. nothing. Another 5 minutes go by, what I believe the manager came over - but she didn't introduce herself. We just told her what happened and she also just looked on the ground using her cellphone as a flashlight.....20mins in, my colleague is ready to call his bank to cancel the card and we had told it to the server and the "manager". Nothing. Sever went back to the bar for a bit as the "manager" looked on the ground around our table. They were both apologetic, but 20mins in, I would have expected some kind of action, even give my colleague the meal ($8+soda) for free in lieu of the hassle and having to get a new card (it was Friday, so he would have had to wait till Tuesday, if the bank can overnight it, perhaps even for a fee - a new card sometimes cost $10 depending on your bank).
Server returns with the card...she apologized for the hassle. We were all relieved. I had asked where she had found the card, apparently she had THROWN IT OUT WITH THE DUPLICATE PAPER................................... THROWN IT OUT! eh ok. then she said "oh you don't need to tip me". WHAT? that's all you can offer? Call me a snooty NYer, but i would have given my colleague a free meal at least, if not a coupon for a free meal next time (if he decides to go back). For the hassle - work lunch, 30mins delay for 3 people to return to work.....i dunno, something.
Sure enough, I haven't returned since then. Maybe i'll check it out again, hoping the server / bartender is not there. Not sure, but that experience just doesn't sit well for me. Too bad, it was a good deal and delicious, but service belongs to the experience as well.
