| - Finally! After many failed attempts I finally had a halfway positive experience at SUL! I guess better late than never. So why oh why am I still only giving a 2 star rating, you ask? I'll explain that in a bit. But 2 stars is still better than 1! LOL.
After the last debacle when I went to see DL Hughley, Matt, one of the owners, contacted me again and offered me two free tickets to see Sommore. So I took him up on his offer. I arrived and retrieved my tickets with no problem, went up to the hostess stand and was brought to the table that Matt had specifically reserved for me. However, that table already had someone else's name on it with bottle service already set up on the table. But then I saw my name on the table behind the first one, so problem solved -- no biggie!
We ordered fries to start and ended up also splitting an order of calamari. I ate half a piece of the calamari and it was not very well seasoned, so I didn't eat anymore of it. However, my friend, trying to give it a shot, ate several pieces before sending it back and ordering the chicken tenders instead. The waitress was very nice about it and even offered to comp the chicken tenders. When they arrived, I ate one small bite and thought they were pretty tasty. My friend ate about half of the order. Enter the 2 star rating. I'm not sure whether it was the calamari or the chicken tenders, but a couple of hours after eating them, my friend got really sick -- to the point of vomiting. Obviously, something he ate didn't agree with him. Poor baby.
Other than the food that made my friend sick, I just have one other peeve: Please be consistent as to where the parking validation stamp is located! My first 2 visits to SUL, the stamp was at the hostess stand by Copper Blues, but on my 3rd visit when I went to the Copper Blues hostess stand, they told me it was at the other hostess stand out in front of SUL. So, based on my last visit, after the show I went to the hostess stand in front of SUL and was told that the stamp was at the Copper Blues hostess stand. Really? However, the hostess was nice and sent the other hostess over to get the stamp from the other stand.
All in a all, definitely a better experience (at least for me because I didn't get sick). Thanks, Matt, for at least attempting to correct customer service issues on a consistent basis. That does count for something. :)
